Due to the fantastic lighting previously installed at the O2 by Architen’s Lighting Division, we were invited by Philips Lighting to manufacture and install another Pharos control system for the external lighting of the entire structure.

When O2 and AEG took over the disused Millennium Dome, it marked the start of a major rebranding exercise. The space, which is now filled with entertainment spaces, restaurants and a full size sports and entertainment arena, would not have been complete without a stunning flagship store for the sponsors themselves.

Due to extensive knowledge in the control of intelligent lighting the lighting division at Architen Landrell was asked to assist on a bridge development in the heart of Liverpool’s dockside area. The bridge, linking offices and a retail area, was envisaged as an architectural statement to juxtapose with the industrial buildings surrounding it.

A key feature of the 160,000 square foot Palace Exchange Shopping Centre is the Enfield Word Wall. Measuring approximately 120m long, the wall dominates the northern side of the development, featuring passages of past and present conversation from the town.

In 2007 Architen Lighting was awarded a number of lighting projects at the redevelopment of the Millennium Dome. This included the design, manufacture and installation of a colour changing walkway linking the O2 arena to the Queen Elizabeth II Pier in the Thames, creating an interactive entrance.

The renovation of the interior of St Thomas’s School took place in 2007 and aimed to create a modern and interactive space for the pupils to learn in. Employing architect Steve Fitzwilliam to fulfill this brief, they embarked on a complete redesign of the space!

The shopping centre at Kingswalk, Gloucester, has never been short of customers, and positioned on the main high street the area is in a prime location for catching the eye of shoppers. However, looking run down and tired, the centre needed a make over to reflect its important position as the main arrival path from the city’s bus station and one of the city’s top shopping destinations!

At the brand new Westfield White City Shopping development in East London, it was important to the client to achieve eye catching design as well as practicality. The North West Bus Interchange forms one of the main entrances to the shopping complex and needed a striking entrance feature. The client opted for an ETFE cushion canopy with a complex control system.

The arena, sponsored by O2, is a striking new concert and events venue in Ireland’s capital city. The building, an old shipping depot, had been the site of the Pont Theatre, a smaller music venue, since 1988 and following its closure in 2007, the site underwent an €80 million redevelopment and is now the largest indoor venue in the country with a capacity of over 14,500. Live Nation, a live events company based in California, own half of the building and manage the events. With over 150 live events planned for each year, a projected target audience of two million customers will use the facility annually. Since it opened last December the venue has already hosted sellout crowds for Kings of Leon and Coldplay.

Known for the ability to rise to any challenge, Architen Lighting was approached to design, manufacture and install an LED mesh to cover a blimp which was going to hover over the crowd at California’s Phish Festival 2009!
